IAA 2018 is one of the biggest International exhibitions in the transport and industrial vehicle sector. Taking place in Hannover from 20th to 27th September and now at its 67th edition, IAA is organized by VDA (German association of the automobile industry). We participated in the 2018 edition of Vertikal Days together with our English dealer JT Cranes, offering a full range overview on the models available at STAND 103 on May 16th-17th. Vertikal Days is a two day networking event for the access and lifting industry, with association and company meetings, seminars and workshops. Focusing purely on lifting equipment, Vertikal Days is a comprehensive and seriously targeted event in its field. The newest JF545 was exhibited during the event alongside a lithium battery-powered SPX424 which introduced the new eco electric mini crane range by Jekko. There was also a chance to get to know the new version of the SPK60 who made its appearance together with SPX1275 and MPK50. After the first medal with Jekko and the first part of the season, the young race walker Leonardo Dei Tos tells us about his upcoming goals during his latest visit to our site in Godega di Sant’Urbano. “The goals for this year were different, but unfortunately getting flu a couple of inconvenient times and some accidents that were worse than expected stopped me from getting to the events for selecting the Italian teams in shape, the events that I always took part in last year,” he admits, and as a consequence he had to alter his season, including a couple of national races of great technical value and an international race from now up to the end of June. The next events for Leonardo will therefore be: – 5 May in Bolzano with the first regional stage of the club Championship; all of Italy’s most competitive athletes will take part, divided by region according to the club they belong to (Leonardo’s club is in Trentino Alto Adige and that’s why he’ll be competing in Bolzano). In this competition, the contenders will distinguish themselves by their times, which are assigned a score, and the sum of the scores of the athletes in the same club determine the rankings for the 12 best clubs which will compete for the championship. 10 km on track; BOLZANO – 8 and 9 June in ALYTUS (Lithuania) international race over 20 km on the first day and 5 km the second day. Athletes who go on to summer events like the World and European Championships often take part in this competition as well. In 2017 Leonardo came 2nd in the rankings and he’s very optimistic about the outcome this year. – 23–24 June Final of the club Championship mentioned above. Italy’s best 12 clubs will compete in this race (Gold Final, there will also be a Silver and B final). Last year, his Athletic Club Bolzano got to the sixth place, and is confident about making it to the podium this year. 10 km on track. One elegant soul perfect for working in tight spaces that require precision and accuracy; and another sporty and rock’n’roll soul for creating a great feeling with the operator on site and in all weather conditions. All this thanks to the innovative control software. Cranes also have a soul. In fact, they can sometimes have two: an elegant and symphonic one and a sporty and rock’n’roll one. Jekko has a crane with two souls and it’s called SPK60: the only one of its kind on the world market. The SPK60 was born in 2016 as a telescopic boom crawler crane with cab to be used mainly in confined and difficult spaces where millimetre-level precision and controlled movements are required. This formula was a success and gave the market something it was missing. After two years of experience on the field, our designers have made further improvements and enhancements to this winning project. The challenge? To give the SPK60 a sportier identity aimed at guaranteeing extraordinary performances and a great feeling with the operator, even in the harshest and most challenging weather and ground conditions. This led to the birth of the new SPK60, a 2.0 version of the previous one, which has two identities for every operating requirement: from precision manoeuvres in tight and enclosed spaces, to pick&carry operations on rough terrain and in the rain. All this thanks to the new version of the machine’s management software that gives the SPK60 a brand-new identity, or rather two identities. “We really wanted to enhance and develop the SPK60 in order to enrich the range of machines designed and produced for customers working in niche markets where Jekko has its Core Business,” explains Alberto Franceschini, Jekko Export Manager.  “It consists of a crane with two souls that will open up multiple market scenarios and sectors for us. We have already delivered this crane to Hong Kong, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, England and the United States, with the aim of strengthening our presence in the sector of large construction sites.” Main features   The “rock’n’roll” soul of the SPK60: a great feeling with the operator The “sporty and rock’n’roll” soul is expressed by a crawler picker and an excavator with a boom that can work in any construction site, on any type of terrain and inclination (up to 4 different degrees 0°, 0.7°, 1.5° and 3°). This mini-crane is equipped with extendible tracks without stabilisers, capable of lifting up to 3 tonnes in Pick&Carry mode and 6 tonnes in static mode and can reach a maximum height of 26.7 metres with jib. All this is made possible by the new innovative software that creates a great feeling with the operator for maximum stability. This stability is necessary as the crane rests on a maximum radius of 2.9 metres by 2.5 metres. The software allows electronically controlling the machine directly from the radio remote control unit provided, adapting itself to any operating situation and environment. This new version of the SPK60 is suitable for sectors such as construction sites, installation of metal structures and platforms and industrial maintenance, because the crane is equipped with a hydraulic manipulator for pipes and beams that guarantees extreme precision when handling and lifting materials at a height. It is also perfect for the installation of glass panes, especially in urban areas where small dimensions and high performances are required (the SPK60 can install glass panels on facades up to a height of nine floors). The mini-crane is extremely easy to transport and is only 5.8 metres long which makes it easy to unload from the body of a truck.   The “elegant” soul of the SPK60 for absolute precision When needed, the new SPK60 can take off its leather jacket and jeans and put on a jacket and tie.  Just ask the new control system. This is when the elegant soul appears, consisting of a telescopic crawler crane with cab and hydraulic jib – the longest in its category – extendible tracks and electric motor for working easily and smoothly in confined spaces. This type of machine can be used in a variety of different applications. In fact, it is suitable for the petrochemical industry, maintenance of nuclear/electric power stations, industrial maintenance and for all indoor, confined and tight spaces where stabilisers cannot be used, and also inside buildings where significant extensions are required. In fact, the hydraulic jib of this mini-crane can extend past the main boom by an additional 8.2 metres for a maximum height of almost 27 metres. The radio control unit allows it to be used like a classic mini-crane and to have all the working data displayed. In fact, the operator must always be close to the load to be lifted, thus increasing the precision of the work, reducing risks of communication between the installer and driver, and consequently reducing the presence of operators on site. The SPK60 also embraces the Jekko philosophy: One crane = One operator. Each operator can assemble and disassemble the crane components and accessories on their own. But the most important advantage is the automatic “table change” lifting system based on the slope of the ground. The crane automatically activates the relative table according to the slope of the ground in order to guarantee fluidity of the work, maximum safety and reduction in the time needed to manually confirm the new setting to the limiter, like most cranes available on the market. The SPK 60 is the only machine in its category that can close the jib in two different positions: Under the main boom so that customers who frequently use the jib do not have to install it every time. On the right side of the crane boom so that the jib is always on board the machine, ready for use. Ideal for customers who often use the main boom of the crane in pick&carry mode or at its maximum capacity. The machine weights are low: 12.2 tonnes, plus 1500 kg for the removable ballast.   Read case history Engine: diesel and electric The SPK60 has a Yanmar 53.7 kW/73 Hp diesel engine and, if necessary, can alternate with a three-phase (or single-phase) 11kW electric engine. Depending on the situation and requirements, the operator can easily switch from one solution to the other with extreme flexibility, both indoors and outdoors.   Competitive advantages This allows the crane to be used in many different situations and contexts, exploiting its two souls. For example, it can be used in interior spaces by taking advantage of jibs and radio remote control or by changing the software, and can also be used as a crane in large construction sites, with operator in the cab, keeping the tracks extendible and thus increasing the lifting capacity compared to similar machines. The cabin is extremely ergonomic and comes with a video camera for perfect rear vision, as well as a radio, air conditioning and ergonomic seat with wide visibility. It is not only comfortable, but also easy to use because the graphic display allows immediately recognising the accessories installed on the machine, thus allowing the automatic setting of the machine’s moment indicator. For the first time Jekko will participate in Intermat 2018, the important international trade fair in the world of construction, at stand E5-M-026 of Fassi France. From 23th to 28th April (opening every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Jekko will participate at Intermat 2018 in Paris, the International Construction and Infrastructure Exhibition, alongside the Fassi Group’s brands, Fassi Gru and Marrel. Held every three years, the Parisian event is a leading trade fair for the entire industry, gathering together all the most qualified professionals in the construction and public works sectors; in fact, they represent more than 50% of the world’s 100 most important construction companies. There will be three Jekko models on display at the stand of our French dealer Fassi France (E5-M-026) in the outdoor area: the SPX424 mini telescopic crawler crane with stabilizers – easily transportable and manoeuvrable, does not require long to set-up and is a practical lifting system that saves time, while ensuring high levels of safety and lifting capacity. Baumaschinenmesse is the biggest and most important exhibition in Switzerland specialized in the construction industry field and will take place at BERNEXPO-Area in Bern from 21st to 24th March. Our Swiss dealer Arbor will participate in the exhibition showcasing a Jekko SPX527 that you can find in Hall3, STAND 301. From 21th  to 24th of March we will be – together with our German dealer NordKran – at Fensterbau Frontale exhibition in Nuremberg, a trade show about windows, doors and façades The exhibition takes place every two years and originates from smaller trade fairs who merged in order to provide customers a full view of a market for used machines and tools. The past edition in 2016 saw 110.581 trade visitors from 116 countries and this year more than 790 companies are presenting their products and solutions on current developments in the window, door and facade construction sector, making Fensterbau Frontale a world-leading exhibition in its sector. Jekko and NordKran will be at Stand 3A-224 to showcase two models from the mini crane range: SPX312 and SPX424 equipped with MV600 glass manipulator. Both cranes can be equipped with vacuum lifters for glass fitted on manipulators (fully integrated with the mini crane) or on hook lifts, allowing Jekko mini-cranes to install glass facades on buildings, homes and skyscrapers.
