On the banks of the Tevere in Rome, the environmental association MAREVIVO Onlus is building its new headquarters — a floating wooden structure that embodies its mission to protect the sea and aquatic ecosystems. Designed by Centrolegno Srl of Fano and assembled by Metal Gronde 2008 Srl, the project brings together technology, sustainability, and respect for nature in the heart of the city.
Working in such a historic and delicate area came with serious challenges: narrow spaces, restricted access, fragile pavements, and strict environmental limits. Traditional truck cranes were simply not an option. The solution came with the Jekko JF545.2, an articulated mini crane perfectly suited for compact, high-precision lifting.
“The tracked undercarriage with rubber pads allowed us to move safely without damaging the pavement or exceeding ground pressure limits,” explains Marco Piselli of Metal Gronde. “The variable geometry outriggers were crucial too — in a site where space changes every half metre, they gave us full flexibility. The articulated boom reached every angle with ease and precision.”
The result was not only a safer and cleaner job, but also a faster one: installation of the wooden structure finished more than a week ahead of schedule, cutting project time by over 30%. With precise, stable movements and no need for additional setups, the JF545.2 made it possible to deliver the structure early, keeping costs under control and allowing interior work to begin before winter.
For Marevivo, whose work symbolises the harmony between people and the environment, the new floating home perfectly reflects its values — sustainable, light, and literally in touch with the water. And for Jekko, it’s another example of how compact lifting technology can turn complex, space-limited projects into clean, efficient, and elegant operations — truly #MadeForLiftingHeroes.
